Overland 1.5 inch Spring w/King OEM 2.5 Shock

New 2018 PW owner, converted from Tundra.

I just received King 2.5 shocks and installed the rears. Can I run the Thuren 1.5 inch Overland spring with these shocks? On my Tundra the front lift (King coil overs) was pretty easy to install (for a first timer). I also swapped out the Tundra upper control arms with Camburgs when I installed the Kings. All in all, it was pretty easy to do. I am wondering if I can tackle swapping out front springs on the PW. The King front shock resi mounts require the front spring to basically be removed anyway...

Swapping the front springs out would also motivate me to get the Synergy drag link to replace the fubar welded unit the truck came with.

I would want to add the 1 inch Traxda spacer for the rear to keep the rake. If I can do the front springs myself I figure I can install spacers in the rear.

If you changed out coilovers on a Tundra I would think you would have no prob changing out the springs on the power wagon. Biggest thing is to watch out for the brake lines and electrical lines getting stretched when dropping the axles down. Unhooking the track bars and sway bars helps a ton as well.

Whoa, I’m confused. I’m a dealer/installer for thurens parts and I’m happy to give you info to do the work yourself. What is the exact setup you’ve got going on that is different from stock?

Did you buy the shocks direct from King? If so, they’re really the wrong shocks. Both the dimensions and the valving are going to be way off unfortunately. If they’re thuren or Carli shocks you’re good to go. You can run King’s in-house shocks but there are sacrifices and you’re not able to play with the springs like you’re supposed to, and they should probably be revalved before use.

You don’t HAVE to remove the front coils if you like he stock ones, the resi mount from thuren doesn’t need the coils removed.

I'll let DWagon help you with the front situation, but in chatting with you over on WTW, you have a FWC and the EXP1 rear bumper, the spacer is fine, but you really should think about AirLift/Daystar and the Thuren rear trackbar/relo IMHO.
2016 Thuren 3.0/2.5 and stabilizer, F/R tracks, Front springs, OEM/AirLift-Daystar rear.

I’m looking to add a spacer to my tear as well to recover some rake post-Thuren. Is there any reason to choose a spacer that sits under the spring (latest Traxda design) vs. those that sit on top of the spring (pretty much every other option, as far as I can tell).

I was thinking about doing this, but FCA will not reimburse because it not a genuine MOPAR part and not the approved fix. I didn't make that up, but what the dealer parts guy told me when I tried to order a 2019 drag link, because they are indeed redesigned. The bulletin for the inspection and the welding, if required, is supposed to be, again according to the dealer, an interim fix until a permanent solution is available. Apparently this solution is due to be released sometime in November this year.

As the Missourians say, "show me."

Maybe your case is the exception and your claim was processed by the right person. I have read anecdotal accounts that support what I was told by the dealer. The fact they refused to order the part and all the other excuses despite pressing him, he kept to the story. Anecdotal evidence also says FCA rarely reimburses for after market parts unless it's installed by a dealer and even then it is a roll of the dice.

I read on the Cummins forum where claim was denied, but in this case the owner replaced the drag link after recall fix was done, and then tried to claim the after market drag link installation. Naturally FCA denied it and another poster who apparently had insider information said a permanent fix was available, but in limited quantities. If you wanted a new drag link would require pressing the dealer you don't won't the recall fix, but insist the new drag link is installed.

I have not taken my truck in for the recall yet, I may still go with it replacing it with Synergy, but there is too much confusion on the whole issue. Is it worth quibbling over $300? Probably not, but it's the principal and $300 buys a lot beer anyway.

Idk what to tell ya. I bought the entire synergy kit and sent them the receipt and an estimate of what the drag link only price would be. I stated i was self installing. Submitted the reciept online and they approved it and are sending me a check. It's a 2016 and recall was never done.
